Bergen is the second largest city in Norway which the locals call the city on seven hills or the city of rain since they say it is raining 280 days a year in Bergen. We are sure it doesn't scare you! Explore and visit the Fish-market, the house-museum of composer Edward Grieg – Troldhaugen, and Fløibanen - the only cable car of its kind in Scandinavia. On the next day travel to Odda – the base for further expeditions to the glaciers, the Trolltunga and the valley of waterfalls.
Transfer along the Hardangerfjord to Odda in scenic ferry and bus drives to the base in the heart of the fjords. At first enjoy a 10 km hike to the Valley of the Waterfalls, Oddadalen – spectacular wooded ravine adorned with numerous beautiful falls; then take a 5-hour hike to the Buer glacier. This is the biggest arm of the Folgefonna glacier with labyrinths, cracks and caves, and exploration of it varies from easy to very challenging. The ascent winds upwards past pristine emerald lakes and idyllic pastures dotted with traditional Norwegian huts, opening out to spectacular views of the Buer and Folgefonna glaciers. The fifth day of the tour is probably the most scenic. Hike to the Trolltunga or the „Trolls tongue" that is the most famous rock formation in Norway. Enjoy breath-taking views to the Lake Ringedalsvatnet and the surrounding fiords form the heights of 700 m. Then, after a short introduction to ice axes and crampons on the next morning, join an expert local guide for a hike across the frozen landscape of the glacier. The last active day of the tour is a hike to Jordalstølen. Ascend through the green valleys and fields surrounding Odda, stopping to enjoy the great array of mountain plants and flowers and taking in the final views of the fjord.
