The tour starts in the fisherman town Negombo, where you will enjoy included boat tour through the Dutch canal. Negombo first flourished as the centre for cinnamon export, which is native to Sri Lanka. Portuguese and Dutch settlement in the area led to the construction of beautiful churches and several architecturally stunning buildings. Then go to the centre of Dambulla province to visit the Golden Cave Temple with the 7th century Buddhist mural paintings. Attend the fortresses and temples in Sigiriya, and take an option to visit the Polonnaruwa – the ancient capital of Sri Lanka listed UNESCO World Heritage site. Then go to Kandy, which is one of the biggest cities on an island of Sri Lanka, visiting the spice plantations en route. Enjoy the traditional Kandyan dance show in the evening and visit to the famous Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of Tooth relict, which is one of the most significant Buddhism sanctuaries in the world, on the next day. Take an option to visit the Botanical Garden or Ayurveda healing centre on your choice.
On the seventh day of the tour in the morning you will take a train to Nuwara Eliya or the Little England. The town produces the finest Orange Pekoe Ceylon tea and is inhabited mainly by tea planters and plantation workers. Visit to one of the factories to learn about the processes of tea there. Then go to the Uda Walwale reserve, which is the home for big number of elephants, and head to Unawatuna region that is famous for its beautiful beaches ideal for surfing and whale watching. Start the next day by watching the stilt fishermen in the Kathaluwa region and then visit to the Galle Fort. You will reach the Hikkaduwa Beach by the evening and have the whole next day there to enjoy leisure and activities on your choice. After that go to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka to enjoy an orientation walk, spend a free evening and have an overnight stay before the tour closes.
